Hidalgo
“The music is emotional and expansive, redolent of western wide open spaces and grand vistas. It demonstrates the range of this talented young composer.”
– Ontario Arts Review
“The film is a Western, so the broad melody and prominent strings and horns are conventions familiar to anyone who has listened to film music. It is, however, exactly what the scene required. […] I think Maxime Goulet is a major talent. He should have a long and successful career writing music for films or TV.”
– Composer’s Notebook
Hidalgo is a feature film by John Fusco based on the legend of the American distance rider Frank Hopkins and his mustang Hidalgo. This music for the final sequence was re-composed by Maxime Goulet during the 2009 ASCAP Film Music Workshop, in Los Angeles, and recorded by the Hollywood Studio Symphony.
